Do you use the Bookmark feature on Instagram? I recently started using it and I have to say, It's such a convenient way to save images from Instagram that inspire me. I like to Bookmark things I find because, as you know, the Instagram algorithm changed a few years ago where you can no longer find content in chronological order on your feed. So if you saw an image an hour ago on your feed but don't remember the account that posted it, chances are very slim that you will ever find that image again.Read More
It's so easy to become kind of blind to the routine things that you see everyday. Today, I saw my front doormat with fresh eyes and realized that it may be about time for a new one. While Target is usually my go-to for doormats because there are inexpensive and get the job done, there are other options that are just as affordable and every bit as stylish. I rounded up a list of some of my favorites ranging from super duper inexpensive to a bit of a splurge (would make for a great house-warming gift). You could even DIY your own - buy a plain mat and use a stencil, exterior paint and a foam stencil brush to customize to your heart's content! Just an idea.Read More
I mentioned in yesterday's post that I want to share with you how we installed the Schluter-Kerdi waterproofing system and why we chose to go that route instead of another technique. The system is a pliable membrane and foam product that is used to waterproof wet areas in a bathroom. We decided to use this system because it is very DIY friendly (exact, easy to follow, instructions are on the website) and, frankly, nearly impossible to mess up.Read More
We are well underway with this bathroom renovation! It's so fun to see this project slowly come together after months (well, years) of planning. I have shared some behind the scenes on my Instagram stories over the last few weeks but I wanted to give you the full tour in a proper post.
n my opinion, good design starts with the basic pieces that ground the room and give it purpose. For example, a living room should have something to sit or lounge on (sofa, chairs, sectional, etc). That's the primary purpose of the room. Sitting and relaxation. There are also secondary essentials that make a bare-bones sterile living room feel softer and more comfortable esthetically such as an area rug, coffee table, lamps, and end tables. The tertiary element of the room is the decorative accessories that bring the whole design together and finish the space. It's the jewelry and hand bag of interior design and should not be overlooked.Read More
Are you an impulsive shopper? Not me - I like to think it over, do research and read reviews, and carefully make a decision. For example, it took me 20 minutes to consider all the shades of lipstick in the brand I wanted before settling on one. Even then, I walked out of the store empty handed because, let's be real, I really don't need another lipstick. The same goes for shopping for things for my home. I think and mull it over for a while (sometimes weeks) before pulling the trigger. So you know that when I find something worth telling you about, it's something that I have given a lot of thought!Read More
We all know that we shouldn't judge a book by it's cover but when it comes to coffee table books, I definitely do. Using books to style coffee tables, shelves, end tables and nightstands is kind of my go-to design element in a room because it is practical AND pretty!Read More
You may have noticed that in the last few months, I have been posting more images on Instagram that are tagged with a LikeToKnow.it link. Many fashion bloggers use the app to promote their wardrobes to their followers who want to know where they, too, can purchase that sweater, skirt, earrings, etc. But in the last couple of years, LikeToKnow.it has partnered with more and more brands for the home, too! This is something that is really exciting to me as an Influencer/blogger AND as a consumer. Let me back up just a minute.Read More
